Mao is taken by Amber to the headquarters of the EPR. While there, Amber calls a meeting for all of the EPR's contractors, including Mao, and the Doctor. She reveals that the destruction of the South American gate was to prevent the eventual disappearance/death of all world-wide contractors. November 11 is killed by the head of East Asian M16 operations, but kills him before dying. Hei attacks the EPR to rescue Mao. Amber activates her contract which reacts with the asteroid shard, creating intense shock and memory loss in the Doctor and temporary paralysis in Hei.
